Joy is licensed to provide competent legal representation at all stages, including the Employment Security Department (adjudication stage), Office of Administrative Hearings (appeals hearing stage), the Commissioner’s Review Office  (petition for review stage), and Superior Court and above (litigation stage).

Individuals needing assistance in obtaining or maintaining unemployment benefits to which they may be entitled may retain Lockerby Law, PLLC. We provide counsel and advice in the claim process and representation at a hearing or in filing a petition for review.

Some of the contested issues a claimant may face may include job separation eligibility, availability issues, work search directives, overpayments, warrants, negotiated settlements, timeliness, training benefits (TB), commissioner approved training (CAT), self-employment assistance program (SEAP), extended benefits (EB), and temporary total disability (TTD) claims.

Lockerby Law, PLLC offers legal services on an unbundled or fee-for-service basis. Clients may receive a limited legal case assessment, and limited or full hearing representation before an administrative law judge. Prepare claimant for the hearing, obtain and offer evidentiary documentation and witnesses, conduct direct and cross-examinations, make objections and motions, and make arguments on the claimant’s behalf.

Note: Claimants who cannot afford an attorney may qualify for low cost representation through the Unemployment Law Project.
